Nicole started with Think Dignity as a volunteer with the St. Vincent de Paul Legal Clinic. Shortly thereafter, in August 2013 she joined the Board of Directors as an At-Large Member and Development Committee Chair before becoming Think Dignity’s Vice President in March 2015.
Nicole received her Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Arizona in 2007 and her Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law in 2010. While at the University of Arizona, she taught an after-school dance program in South Tucson and became active in philanthropies sponsored by her church. In law school, she received an Award for Academic Excellence in Trial Practice. She worked with the San Diego Volunteer Lawyers Program’s HIV/AIDS team providing much-needed assistance to HIV positive individuals. She also interned with the Attorney General’s Bureau of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse assisting in the prosecution of egregious violators of state law. Her last semester in law school was spent as a Judicial Intern with San Diego County Juvenile Court, primarily focusing her research on the juvenile delinquency system. She is now an associate in the law office of Dummit, Buchholz & Trapp where she practices civil defense of hospital entities in medical malpractice litigation.
Nicole was recently appointed President-Elect of the San Diego Association for Healthcare Risk Management, which provides information, resources and education in a continuous effort to address the needs of healthcare risk management professionals. She is also an active member of the San Diego Defense Lawyers and jointly heads a mentoring group for current and aspiring healthcare attorneys. She spends her free time distance running and enjoying good food at local restaurants with her husband – in no particular order.
