Know Your Rights Project (KYR)

Our Know Your Rights (KYR) card set serves as a “Bill of Rights” that explains the 7 areas of law most likely to affect people experiencing homelessness in response to the rising criminalization rates of unhoused individuals. This project serves to empower our homeless neighbors to be knowledgeable about their legal rights and enable them to also educate others.

Our KYR card set is uniquely designed to be pocket-sized and laminated for convenient storage and weather-proof protection. Spanish translations are also available.

Cynthia Woelfel

When Cynthia moved to San Diego in 2021, she began to volunteer at the Street Cafe and Summer/Winter Community Distributions. It became evident that the core values of Think Dignity aligned strongly with Cynthia’s desire to extend compassion to her unsheltered neighbors. Impressed by the programs, advocacy and leadership throughout the TD organization, Cynthia applied to become a board member. After 35 years serving her community as a clinical psychologist, Cynthia is now enjoying retirement. She hopes that her expertise in mental health, communication and the devastating consequences of trauma will enhance the board’s capacity to further their mission in meeting the needs of the homeless with dignity. Cynthia is currently the Chair of the Programs Committee.
